On January 24, 2021, Nick Sirianni was hired to become the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles after the firing of Doug Pederson.

On September 12, 2021, Sirianni made his regular-season head coaching debut against the Atlanta Falcons and led the Eagles to a 32–6 win. Sirianni concluded his first season as head coach with a 9-8 record and a wild card berth, in which the Eagles lost to the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers 15-31. Sirianni also became the third Eagles head coach, joining Chip Kelly in 2013 and Ray Rhodes in 1995 to make the playoffs in their first year as head coach.

The media bashed Sirianni for his opening day press conference and for one of his infamous flower analogies he used in a press conference during the growing pains of his first full season as the head coach.

“There’s gotta be a message that I have to keep everybody together.”

“I put a picture of a flower up, It’s coming through the ground and the roots are growing out. And the roots are continuing to grow out, and the only way they continue to grow is if we water, we all fertilize, we all do our part.” - Nick Sirianni
